Texas Volkssport Assn | Email Me | Counties Walked

TVA Reunion Event
The Grove, TX

03/05/05

I arrived early and they were
still sitting up the walk start
.

So I walked around The Grove
taking some pictures.

The Sheriff's office with
parking sign.

The city well.

Sign on the saloon's wall.

The saloon was closed.

Other city buildings.

Walk start is now
open for business.

Autographed guitars on the wal1.

Leaving the start on the "yellow"
route took me by this creek.

Lutheran Church

The front view.

TX HWY 36 was the route for
about half the walk.

A ranch entrance.

Nice open country.  You can see we had fog that
morning.  It was only 49 degrees when I started out.

The cows all came down to the
fence to see what was going on.

An old windmill against the overcast sky..

Sherry (on the left) was walking.
The couple was our checkpoint #1.

The dog was from a ranch we walked past.
He decided to do the volksmarch too.

The water running down the edge
of the road shows how much rain
we've had lately.

Checkpoint #2 Volunters.

Just a look at the countryside.

Two walkers doing the 5K route.

I finished the yellow route and checked in. I got my book stamped and visited for awhile before I headed out on the pink route. I walked out to checkpoint #2 where I was to take over. I would finish my walk after I worked the checkpoint.

A couple of cute kids who
were walking the 5K pink route.

A walker from Austin that
walked with me for awhile.

Pink Route Checkpoint #1 Volunteer.

Marcelino & Sarah Garcia
from Copperas Cove.

The road ahead.

Connie was the volunteer at
Checkpoint #2.  Keeping her company
was 1 of the dogs in the area.

Nice couple from Fredericksburg
were my first customers.

Guni Money and David Foster with
Gavin Money who is 2 1/2.
 This is Gavin's 6th Event.

A shot of the walkers coming
and going from my checkpoint.

When I got back to town I took
another look around.  This is inside
the saloon.

This is a wild pig they put horns on.
It is hanging on the saloon wall.

These walkers took advantage
of the food the TVA had for sale.

This is me, in my Walk Texas T-shirt.
I have now walked 115 counties in Texas.
